Rav
I have a cold.

... Or another sinus infection. I am also feeling very kittenish and prone to clawing furniture, sleeping curled up, and sun basking.

Reread Dorothy Sayer's Peter Whimsey books. Very cute very British man. There's an amusing letter printed in another book with characters from the Whimsey series responding to a cartoon. Harriet's response (in big scrawling handwriting) is: My husband has not got rabbit teeth!

I should make an icon out of that.

Her 'r', by the way, looks like an 'h'. I read it as 'hobbit' teeth first. This amuses me inordinately.

Read Thomas Hardy's 'Tess of the D'Ubervilles'. Thought it was well written, but hated the book.

New icon uploaded - nothing exciting.

Sorry. I had to read it in high school. HATED it. Hated the main character and her sad sad swept away by the fate that I'm too much of a dishrag to try and get something better and her twoo lub that was a JACKASS. And then got to undergrad and what did I have to read in one of my English lit units? You guessed it...kill kill kill....

Re:

Intro to our book, "Tess is *huggle* *huggle* *squeee* a liberated New Woman!" ...... Yeah. Every example of her 'liberation' is either due to Tess not doing anything, or her denials are promptly over turned.

If Hardy was trying to show how women are oppressed, then you'd assume there'd be a character of a woman with the wits to rise above said oppression. Also, he's got this creepy 'oooh breasts mouth breasts ooooh' thing going on with Tess. It sounds like he's got his hands in his pants.

Mnerg.

In other news, my scarf is half done?

Re:

A liberated woman? Are you KIDDING? :shudder: She was so friggin' passive that it wasn't even funny. She just drifted around and conformed to whatever mold everyone around her presented her with.

Argh.
