Letters [Jan. 17th, 2006|12:03 pm]

Well, I think I've got a cool mitten related idea on the knitting front. Played around in ToME and found the Blood of Life (which is a very very rare item.) Sadly, the character didn't last that long.

Found a strange little rpg called something like Shinseiden for NES. It looks to be an odd Dragon Quest like game, but there's no translation. Also played Ufouria, which is a fascinatingly quirky NES game. I wonder if anything was changed in the translation.

From: Williams

Just who was that girl in your tent, Trevvie? Is she one of the Houtou contingent?

Have you gotten the briefing yet on what exactly the Appointed are? The Duke has some questions.

I assume we spar tonight? It looks to be a nice night.

Envoy

To: Will
From: Trevor

You do know that my tent isn't that far away, if you want to talk, brother. That was probably Miss Greene. She's one of fhe Appointed, and she's got some interesting ideas. Enclosed is my copy of the briefing I recieved. What's Duke Iglesias' exact question?

And yeah, sparring's fine. You might want to check and see if there's an evening drill tonight. If so, I'll have to cancel. I should watch it.

I also need to get the right pronounciation of Dr. Yaone's name. I feel like an absolute fool talking to her. She expressed some concern about Dr. Nii to me. I told her to leave you a note if you were at the Duke's.

General Evanheart

To: Miss Greene
From: Rowan

Of course, I'd love to have tea with you and to talk. Is there something in particular you wanted to discuss?

If you'd like a - how shall we put this - a cover story, I'm a local healer. So it could be army related.

Lady Owl Idiath told me about your group, and used the most postive terms you can imagine.

Rowan

P.S. If you're an artist, you may want to pop into the church in town. Father Ivan's a harmless man, really, and his stained glass windows are beautiful.

Eee. I'm flattered that Lady Idiath is fond of us. We try our best? That I have this assignment at all is really amazing.

What I wanted to discuss is - a partickular summer dwelling belonging to the female companion of a local nobleman. And the co-incid coins link between said house and Envoy Evanheart.

I know this seems like a leap in logic. But 'exotic tastes' and the old injuries to Envoy Evanheart's hand are really giving me a bad feeling about everything and he dreams of red justlikecalebdidthattime

Thank you!
Vicky

P.S. I'll go visit on my next break. Father Ivan seems really nice.

To: Envoy W. Evanheart
From: Dr. J. Nii

I couldn't help but notice there seems to be some bad blood between you and your brother; if you need to rant to someone, that's part of what I'm here for. If not, that's perfectly okay. Just remember it's best to trust the General himself, and not the heresay of a jealous superior?

Trust me. I've both been there and done that. Nobility's nobility wherever you go, and you can't scare the naive out of someone.

-j.n.

To: Envoy Evanheart
From: Myunghee Ramona Hwan

Sir, I notice you seem to have trouble sleeping, and some apparent ache in your shoulder? I know you are not fond of doctors, but I do worry. You are a bright man, and bright men do tend to take on very mcuh extra work a lot, in fear that it won't get done without them.

I can come by your tent with some tea, and a liniment. This way I am on your ground. If you would rather not talk, I am not offended.

Take care.
-M. R. Hwan.

To: Yaone
From: Ramona

The blend of herbs in this prescribed medicine for General Evanheart is all very wrong. Too much sedative, and hardly any relaxant; also the dosage is too high for his body weight. He'll get resistance, and will need more medicine, then get sick from too much some day.

...It feels like this is happening on purpose to me. Maybe too long in Houtou, with the Lady.

-R

To: Ramona
From: Yaone

It's far too high for it to have been an accidental mishap or mere carelessness. You're not just worrying for no reason, Ramona.

The mistress...smells all too familiar to me. Further - ugh, that duke. Add the two of them, and you'll have her 'ladyship'.

I didn't think any place else would feel of Houtou. No wonder Dr. Nii is not homesick.

I will speak to the General, and offer him a new prescription. Also, I'll tell Caleb of this development and give him a sample of the original medicine.

Take care.

I regret to inform you that on the authority of Hunter Miss Victoria Greene, Drs. Hwan and Jenna will be taking the responsibility of caring for the General henceforth. Doubtless your other responisibilities resulted in the - mishap, shall we call it? in the blending of the General's medicine.

Rest assured, though, that the weight of this is now off your shoulders. The General is no longer yours to fret over.

A bientot,

You seem fond of poking 'this Hunter's ears, which is a trifle forward, madame.

Don't concern yourself about the mishap; it's over and done, and we shall be sure it does not repeat itself.

Exotic tastes? I'm afraid I haven't - well, to be honest, I have heard that a certain lady is - erm - free with her attentions. Envoy Evanheart has hand injuries?

As for the summer house, yes, I've heard rumors. Do you know Silvram?

R.

To: Dr. Nii
From: W. Evanheart

There's no need for you to be a listening shoulder, Dr. Nii. I'm not quite sure which superior you mean. Has there been some sort of rumor?

As for Trevvie's naivity - well, he has to be strong.

I do worry about his mind though.

W.

To: Dr. Yaone

I'm fine, my lady. My brother is the one with the bad arm. Perhaps you should talk to him.

If it would ease your worries though, the tea does sound nice.

Sir, you may wish to speak with Lady Elizabeth. One of the Houtou healers is asking after my health and my sleeping habits. I have told her that I am well, but if she continues to worry -

General Evanhert's hands look as if they were broken and then set improperly. 'Her ladyship' is a healer. i wish they wouldn't always go after hands. it hurts.

I haven't met Silvram yet but I think I should like to talk to him.

-Vicky

To: W.
From: Nii

'Trevvie'? I think he hates that nickname...

For what it's worth I worry about -your- mind. You're overworking (said the king of skipping his lunch - I should practice what I preach, ah?) and Hwan's fretty...

Just prod me of you need anything.

-j.n.

P.S. I meant your superior with the sleeves Greene looks like she wants to bat all the time. There aren't rumours, but old queens know their own kind, y'know? If he'd touch Elizabeth=san as much as he leaned on you, the facade'd be a lot more believable.

To: Envoy Evanheart
From: M.R. Hwan

Thank you for telling me about your brother; I will be taking over his treatments in the future. That should help you worry less?

I hope the tea was all right.

we know what you are doing to him. you will stop, or you will pay the price. take heed.

Xiao sleepwalked into my tent last night with a bunch of old crabby ghosts hanging around; she's okay though. Adrius took her 'home'. I like her and she's amazingly nice but tabarnac it scares the crap out of me when she does that.

Sweet Lady, if - the hands must be - hm. How secure is the mail there? I've got a medical file you may want to see. Assuming that - that I'm right, that is.

I'll check to see if Silvram will be in the area. He specializes in - things like blood magic.

Feel free to call me Rowan, Miss Greene. We're birds of the feather, one might say.

R.

To: Dr. Nii
From: W. Evanheart

I'm afraid you must be confused. The Duke cannot be jealous of my brother. After all, the General's a virgin to the best of my knowledge.

You should have some lunch, Dr. Nii. It'd probably help keep you awake at the meeting this afternoon.

W.

To: Dr. Hwan

The tea smells quite nice. Anything I should know about using it? I don't want to - erm - discover any startling properties by, say, mixing it with alcohol.

There's a book I'm sending over. It's on Dexian herbs. Mostly folklore, but I thought you'd like the illustrations.

I can come up to see the files.

And blood magic sounds like - like - something I'm familiar with? Not exactly the same thing. But similar. In fact that's why I was sent here. Because of the similarity between that awful house and a case I was very involved in earlier.

I hope I can help fix this.

-V

P.S. ...peep?

To: Williams-san
From: Nii

The lunch suggestion was wonderful. Thank you.

I wish I were as old as Cadmus-san. Then I too could snore at the precise moment needed to make certain people stop extrapolating about flocks.

-Nii

P.S. Well, some people like the idea of. Um. Deflowering. It's a common sort of fixation? The idea of reshaping something pure and malleable as one sees fit.

Either way, I think he's out of luck; the General seems to like Miss Greene.

P.P.S. Thanks for pointing me to the not-frightening coffee the other night. what IS that Lothmarian substance?

To: Envoy Evanheart
From: Hwan

Thank you very much for the book! I especially like the funny little dragons about the roots of the plants whose medicines are found below soil.

As for the tea, I would advise against drinking it with alcohol? It can intensify the sleep aids a bit.

Are they having ham again?

The Lothmarian substance is a mix of dusty Lothmarian coffee and burnt roots. They claim. It - yes. It's drinkable with a lot of sugar and cream.

You've noticed how he is around her as well?
